greenhouse

it hasn't been too long,
so you'll remember
I'm sure, the guy
they found in the austrian
alps who'd been frozen
40,000 years
was it? in ice that
never melted until recently,
caught in a blue prison
with leather garments
straw-stuffed, backpack,
a sack with magic tools,
a staff. he couldn't know,
when he took his fatal plunge,
he'd be a messenger
from his time to ours,
warning us of global
gases gone astray,
a warming taking place.
staff in hand, he was
on journey from one place
to another; which missed him,
never realizing
(nor did the place that he
departed from) he had
a longer trip to make.
