a new pledge of allegiance

i pledge allegiance to the Earth,
the precious sphere that gave me birth;
and to the waters and the air,
that every day sustain me there;
and to the animals and plants,
that lift my spirits when they dance;
and every season, every weather,
rain, hail and wind and sun together;
and lastly, from each dawn to dawn,
the very ground i walk upon--
i'll fight for it for all i'm worth!
i pledge allegiance to the Earth.
